Visiting the mountainous region of Fort Davis was truly memorable! Located on Mount Locke in the Davis Mounts we had the fantastic opportunity to visit the McDonald Observatory which is home to the Hobby-Eberly Telescope…the third largest telescope in the world. The view of the Deadmans Canyon from these telescopes was breathtaking along with the drive through the mountains. Seeing how these structures are built on mountaintops along with the architecture of the telescopes was very insightful to how special it was to make room for visiting such amazing scientific establishments.
